Clothes make me happy
Clothes make me happy.
This first one was worn to a vintage clothes market - Round She Goes. It was so much fun! I went to the market with three lovely new friends I met at high tea. There were two rooms packed with vintage and modern treasures. I bought a number of dresses and a skirt, all in great condition and at great prices. The sizes were difficult. My petite yet curvy figure made the tiny size 12 waistband feel like a size six.
The outfit I wore featured a pre-loved skirt from a friend - it is so beautiful - lots of material and a tulle underskirt and a cute poodle appliqued on the front, and appliqued scattered hearts. I am also wearing my Stella McCartney for Target silk blouse from a few years ago, a Mimco headband, ballet flats and giant Diva cocktail ring.

This outfit was worn to Jebediah on Friday night. I don't know if such a dainty outfit was conducive to the rough moshpit complete with beer showers, but it survived the experience, albeit smelling like a brewery. The dress is my favourite one I bought at Round She Goes. It's a gorgeous peach floral with a cowel neck and gathered waist. I also wore a swing coat from Valley Girl - it's metallic cream - and my merino jumper and opaques and ballet flats.
And this one was worn to work and a lunch with friends. Excuse the gaping waist - there really should be an extra button. I am wearing a dress from Cue (it's green and mustard) and pleather jacket from Temt. My boots are from London Rebel. What have you worn lately? Post your outfit links and descriptions below :)

Big tough boots
I have been receiving so many compliments on my new boots. My big tough boots. I love them! When Westfield's online store offered me a free pair of shoes, of course I said yes! I don't fancy shoe shopping as my feet are teeny tiny, and so I thought shoe shopping online would be tricky. The safe option for me was to choose these boots. They are a perfect fit and are so comfy and warm. And the buckles are adjustable to the fat and skinny parts of my legs.
It was three degrees when I woke up yesterday, and only reached the mid teens. So I put together a snuggly outfit for work. Really proud of my effort considering I was tired, cold and had to navigate my floordrobe in semi darkness. My new Jag jumper I bought in Brisbane after seeing it feature in Shop til You Drop mag, old faithful herringbone pleated skirt from Jay Jays circa 2004, old and not often worn floral linen shirt, a scarf given to me by a friend, and my warm hooded jacket from Target. A Mimco headband, and a rabbit brooch. And my new big tough boots.
If you'd like some for yourself, they are Novo brand in Baldwin style.
(Yes this was a sponsored blog post but you'd do one too if you got free boots as kick arse as mine.)

The end is nigh
I'm on the home stretch of the 30 for 30 remix.
It's easy not to shop, but as I wrote last week, it feels a little dull to only have a small portion of my wardrobe to choose from. It's like wearing a uniform, but takes more thinking. I want to wear my cornflower blue dress that I wore to the Rush premiere. I want to wear my red skirt. My navy ruffle top. The multitude of dresses I have for work. I want to dive into my wardrobe and go crazy. I really have no desire to buy anything new. Except to replace my Diva bling ring that I have lost. One thing I have discovered is that I could quite happily wear my black ballet flats forever. Versatile!
Outfit 24. A bit the same as outfit 23. A bit different too.
Target blazer, Valleygirl tee and skirt, Diana Ferrari shoes, Mimco headband, Lavallier bangle and Tiffany necklace.
Sussan cardi, Mink Pink skirt, Basque top, Diana Ferrari shoes, Mimco headband, Lavallier bangle and Tiffany necklace.
Outfit 26. I had lunch at the hospital with lovely Camille, blogger from Curlypops, who guest blogged earlier. It was nice to see her - and hopefully next time we won't meet at the hospital!
I wore Target blouse and trousers, Cotton On cardi, Diana Ferrari shoes, Mimco headband and Lavallier bangle - I am loving the bangle!
Hope you all had a good day!
On a serious note, my thoughts are with the New Zealanders who have endured a serious earthquake. It's tragic. Mother nature has not been kind recently.

Outfit 25. I felt like I was wearing a bodysuit. I used to have a floral bodysuit from Miss Shop, circa 1993. It was cold so I wore my lace flower scarf and pleather jacket.
Someone said it was a good outfit. I think it was too. My boobs looked big yet my tummy was flat. Win!Sussan cardi, Mink Pink skirt, Basque top, Diana Ferrari shoes, Mimco headband, Lavallier bangle and Tiffany necklace.

Forgive me Kendi, I have sort of faltered
Today I wore this to work.
Outfit 21: pants from Target, top from Ishka, headband from Witchery, Diva bangle, Tigertree necklace and DFO sandals. The top has a beautiful pleat detail on the vertical blue part and cuffs. Colleagues liked it.
And I sort of faltered. I bought stuff. And some more, not pictured, but they are for a birthday present and so don't count in this remix/shopping ban.
My colleagues thought my purchases were the only logical thing to do. For Borders has gone bust and was given a birthday voucher for a generous sum, and they were only honouring vouchers if you spent the equivalent of the voucher. I didn't know how much longer I could keep my voucher for. And so I shopped.
I panic shopped. I bought a cute little bag for my belly dancing shoes and scarf, and several books, a homeware item a magazine and a card. Everything I bought I wanted, so it was not impulse buying.
Initially I was annoyed by having to spend $100 to use a voucher that had already been paid for. But now I've been to Borders, spent $100+ and seen forlorn staff fending off customers and being interviewed by the media, and worrying about whether they've got a job in the near future, I don't feel so hard done by. The poor staff were consoling customers and genuinely worried about their jobs. It's so sad. I love Borders. I loved poring through the Kurt Cobain books before I moved here to Melbourne. I loved reading magazines on their comfy chairs when the temperature was ridiculous. And I loved the cook books. But now with the trend of online bookstores and e-books, and competitive global rates, the physical bookstores are suffering. I noticed the demise of Borders' CD stock a while back, and now their DVD are dwindling, they have homewares, and a smaller range of books.
My panic shopping and 30 for 30 interlude is justified when a store I have a voucher for goes into voluntary administration. Even Kendi Everyday would agree. I only went to one store, and no clothes were bought.
Tonight is nice. I'm dead tired, so am relaxing. Wine, music, dark chocolate and reading The Secret Life of Dresses, which is a book based on the A Dress a Day blog.
I hope my blog is made into a book one day!
PS: you only have a few days left to vote for me (Tune into Radio Carly) in the Best Kept Secret category of the Bloggie Awards. Thanka!

Remix round up
Here is most of my work week of 30 for 30 remix outfits. So close to the finishing line!
It's been fun, but I miss my wardrobe of a million things!
The no shopping thing isn't killing me as much as last week, and I'm not even sad about staying away from the shops.
What is difficult is the lack of clothing choices I have. I yearn to wear some of my items. I think this challenge is teaching me to appreciate what I have in my wardrobe.
Monday. Outfit 16. I had work then the taping of the Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight show.
My only acknowledgment of Valentine's Day was asking a courier if the flowers were for me.
I wore a Target dress, Sportsgirl blazer, Wittner heels, Mimco floral headband and bangle and Tiffany necklace.
I also met Megan Gale.
Tuesday. Outfit 17. I was tired from the late night previously. I worked. And was appointed to a more senior role, temporarily, starting soon.
I wore my Target blouse, Valleygirl skirt, Diana Ferrari shoes, Mimco floral headband and Temt scarf.
I like this outfit a lot. And so did a truck driver, it seemed. He gave me a thumbs up while I was being photographed!
Wednesday. Outfit 18. More work. And humidity. Humidity makes my curls good. I like this outfit a lot too!
Target pants, DFO sandals, Sussan cardi, Valleygirl tee, Mimco floral headband, Tiffany necklace, Lavallier bangle.
Wednesday night. I went out to dinner. It was hot and rainy. I met a beautiful dog that I spent a lot of time patting. He was adorable.
I wore Witchery cardi and bangle, Sunnygirl dress, leather sandals, Tiffany necklace and Mimco bow headband.
Thursday. Beautiful and sunny. I voted for a meeting in the park. Colleagues who didn't attend said 'awww'.
I tried a bandana again.
I wore skirt by Valleygirl, top by Temt, cardi by Cotton On, brooch handmade from broken clip on earring, scarf is years old and I think Sportsgirl, shoes by Diana Ferrari, hairclips from Mimco and necklace by Tiffany.
I sense a theme. Mimco and Tiffany.
In mundane news:
I baked a really good beige dinner on Tuesday night. Roast chicken Maryland and Dutch cream potatoes. Tasted so yummy, probably really bad for me.
And I was excited about dipping into my GIANT tub of cream (vaseline). Look how much bigger it is compared to my usual quantity!

Jebediah at the St Kilda Festival
After eight years living in Melbourne, I went to the St Kilda Festival for the first time on Sunday. I happened to leave my camera battery charging at home, so I had to make do with my iPhone camera. I was disappointed. Apologies.
It was a beautiful day. I only went for two hours. Just to see Jebediah.
So many people packed the streets, enjoying the free entertainment and stalls.
Jebediah played on the foreshore near the sea baths. I loved their energy. I'm glad they're still kicking around.
There was moshing. And crowd surfing. Much different to a Bob Evans gig I'm used to. I loved it!
I was so so happy to hear Harpoon then She's Like a Comet. I died. Wow.
My week-long crash course in listening to Jebediah songs paid off because I knew a lot more words than I thought I did!
I started off viewing them from far away then realised I could have been down the front for a longer time!
I saw a man with two beautiful Newfoundlands. They were so affectionate. And big! I asked for a photo. He asked me to hold them while he took the photo. I was hoping they'd stay still, because they'd just bolted after some small dogs.
Fortunately there were no uh-oh moments. Unfortunately you can't really see me in the photos. But the dogs still look gorgeous. And I was still doing the 30 for 30 remix - outfit 15: Bob Evans tee, denim shorts, hat, sunnies and ballet flats.

Get out and wiggle it
My Saturday had a dance theme. Hence the title of this post - a line from a current favourite song of mine, Sia's Clap Your Hands. 'Get out and wiggle it...' or at least I think that's what she is singing, and what I sing along to!*
First up was the commencement of belly dancing for the year. It was fun! We learnt how to twirl sticks.
This is what I wore:
Outfit 13 of the 30 for 30 remix. I admit I rolled out of bed, bleary eyed, and picked up my tee from the floor - I wore it to the Baby Animals the previous night.
Cardi and harem pants from Cotton On, tee from Jeanswest, scarf was a present, hairclip from Petra, shoes from Diana Ferrari.
I modified my outfit slightly to do belly dancing. Gym clothes are not included in the remix challenge. Unless all you have are gym clothes??
I love this hipscarf. It's so beautiful and intricate.
Next stop was Grill'd - the best burgers in the world.
My friend and I ventured from our regular burger choices (her's - sweet chilli chicken, mine are bird n brie or baa baa burger). I had caesar, which I thought was a bit salty.
Jentopia and her husband and friend happened to be at Grill'd too - we gatecrashed their table!
I got snacks for the cinema:
I usually only ever eat this popcorn when I fly Virgin Blue because it's sold at Boost Juice, right at the Virgin terminal.
I only drink brown creamy soda at Grill'd.
My friend and I saw Black Swan at the cinema. We were hesitant because some people said they loved it, and others hated it.
Hmmmm is all I can say. It was a film with so many genres. Perhaps a pyscho-sexual lesbian ballet thriller coupled with themes of mental illness and a controlling, fallen star mother? My friend and I were underwhelmed, though.
If you haven't seen the film, this is a spoiler alert.
Beautiful costumes. Good acting. Very sexy. Nina, played by Natalie Portman, really became her character of the Swan Queen. Both mentally and physically. I loved how her skin turned into poultry flesh.
The violence and self harm was so graphic I covered my eyes, asking my friend to tell me when the scenes were over. Some of these scenes seemed to be over the top and a little out of place.
My thoughts were that Mila Kunis' character Lily didn't really exist and she was the figurative embodiment of Nina's mental illness - Nina was sexually suppressive so being with Lily helped her overcome this issue and live out her fantasy. I think that when Nina killed Lily, she really killed the thoughts in her own head so she could give the role of the Swan Queen her best. And when Nina killed herself, she did so because she had reached perfection in her dance career, and frankly, that's all she had in life.
Finally, after an impromptu invite from my beautiful fellow blogger, Twitter friend and Rush fan Jenna, I went to a stage show at Gasworks Park.
I met my favourite character after the show! His hair is wild!!
And I still did the 30 for 30 remix!
My top's Temt, pants are Sussan, bag is Nicola Cerini, sandals are from DFO, jacket is Target, bangle is Mimco and belt is Witchery (it has a beautiful stone buckle on it).
Thanks for the ticket Jenna! Can't wait for the review on your blog :)
What a fun filled Saturday!
*Just googled the lyrics to Clap Your Hands, and 'Get out and wiggle it' is actually 'Get out of misery'! Hahaha! I like what I sing better, so the title stays!

Grease 2 Live in concert is playing until 19 February as part of the Midsumma festival. It is based on the 1981 movie which I've never seen.
It was lots of fun! A really talented cast, great singing, lively dancing and nice costumes. Jenna and I sat in the front row and sang along when we weren't grinning madly.I met my favourite character after the show! His hair is wild!!
