Jazz

Mum called me earlier this evening to tell me my parents (and my?) beautiful dog Jazz died suddenly today.

Jazz was the most perfect dog ever.

She had a huge personality, and an even bigger amount of love to give. There's just something about the cheekiness and upfront manner of a Curly Coated Retriever, and Jazz had this cheek and upfront manner tenfold.

Jazz used to carry beef bones around until they were maggoty. Once she jumped up and gave me a kiss on the face while she had a dead bird in her mouth. Before a walk, she'd fetch her frisbee out of her toybox and madly run around the perimeter of the house until she got her lead on. She was so cute when she'd lie upside down, legs akimbo and tongue out. And she was devoted to her kong - she would play with kong for hours, so much so that she broke the supposedly indestructible kong in half. Mum and Dad buried half of her kong with her.

Although I only go home to my parents' house around four times a year, Jazz and Toby show me love like I've never left.

I will miss her so much. And I know my parents will find it very hard to cope with the grief of losing Jazz. They still have Toby to love and spoil, but Jazz was the ultimate.

Rest in peace my little Jazzy. I love you.

  2. That is so sad Carly :(
I didn't realise how hard losing a pet would be until we lost our maltese Cody last year. They seem to hold a special place in our hearts which we never even knew about.
I hope that you are all okay, and Toby too xxxx

  4. Thanks :)

Losing a pet is really difficult. I don't think people who have not got pets understand the depth of loss.

I think it's the unconditional love they give, and their personalities that are just so unique and loyal that makes the reality of losing them so hard.

  10. Carly. Carly, Carly.... I have GOOSEBUMPS, my love. How can it be that we both have dogs called Jazz and Pepper?????? Not only that, your Jazz sounded exactly - EXACTLY - like my own. Just a different breed. The broken kong: yep! Maggoty bones, idjit with toys in her mouth: yep! Awww.

Oh, wow. I need to take a moment to process this. I am so sorry for the loss of your Jazzy. I am certain you still miss her to this day. And your Mum and Dad as well xox Thanks so much for leading me here to this post.
