But mostly sorry, because he was/is so obviously unhappy with who he is.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02643842167774804433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1720872153813357167.post-83536121253822812642015-03-19T17:18:43.008+11:002015-03-19T17:18:43.008+11:00Hi Carly, I've been cat fished too... I'll...Hi Carly, I've been cat fished too... I'll give you the short version!
I used to chat to a guy in the States back around the same time as you, 2000. Back when there wasn't much digital uploading of photos let alone video chat! He was in California, I was in New Zealand, so there was no hope of meeting any time soon.. I was only 17/18 at the time.. He said he was 21. A couple of years after talking he disappeared.. I emailed him countless times but nothing.. I eventually forgot about him. Last year after watching the show Cat Fish on TV, I was inspired to try and track him down.. I googled his old email address and to cut a long story short I eventually found a listing for him.. turns out he was about 10 years older than what he had told me at the time.. not a big deal now that I am 32 myself but back then I was only 17 and he was around 30! This was really the only thing I found out about him, I'm sure he was lying about more! He had a family for all I know. Anyway, I haven't bothered to contact him or anything.. Although my story is a lot less dramatic than yours.. I can definitely relate.. its a horrible feeling to be attached to someone that is not who they say they are... I'm sorry you had to met this one catfish. Thanks for sharing and always looking for the silver lining too.

The internet while bringing people of all likes together also has a lot of bitter , twisted people who lie for attention or whatever.

I discovered a lady in a Australian parenting forum (she lived overseas) pretending she had a daughter with leukemia (sometimes still alive , others times she died) and she then lost a baby (lie) she told assorted lies in different forums including a diabetes one and one about losing parents. She had an unusual name and it was so easy to google.
Everything was a huge lie. I found her real blog and saw living children. I alerted the moderators and some banned her , deleted the account (others left the posts there).

I know a friend who developed an online friendship with a lady who had breast cancer and she subsequently died (the lady). There was much emotional energy in that friendship my friend was devastated for the loss of her friend. Then she found out it was all a lie after 10yrs. The lady was 'man' too.

(PS I met my husband via radio matchmaking - he went on and I wrote in ...first we wrote, then talked on phone . First date I was terrified he was crazy ...he wasn't and here we are over 26 yrs later).♥.Trish.♥ Drumboyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13482654455512269065noreply@blogger.com
